July 2010
This summer marked another year our family headed out west for vacation, and we expanded on our regular Colorado visit by adding in more exploration of West Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado itself. Instead of being only Mom and the boys on vacation, this time Dad and puppy Grover joined us for fun and adventure. I guess that means that it was still technically Mom and the boys, just more boys this time!

We all wrote in our journals along the way, but I have yet to find the time to get them typed up and online. Even now, I'm going to have to cheat on this vacation page and just let people skip to the photo slideshow for details. I think next time we better type our journals directly instead of writing them the old-fashioned way, at least if we want to share them in our online pages.

But it was a fantastic trip, from start to finish. Some of the highlights of this year's vacation included (in order of the trip):

Fort Stockton, Texas
Roswell, New Mexico
Petroglyph National Monument, New Mexico
Albuquerque, New Mexico
Durango, Colorado (with Grandma Jan and Grandpa George) for fishing, camping, canoeing, tubing, hiking, and more
San Juan Lake
Lake Vallecito
Silverton, Colorado
Million Dollar Highway
Black Canyon of the Gunnison
Lake City
Bristol Head (with other camping family and friends)
Creede
Mesa Verde
Grand Canyon, Arizona
Petrified Forest, Arizona
Visiting with Bill & Katy and family in Albuquerque
Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico
Davis Mountains

We both camped and stayed in hotels, depending on the location, and a great time was had by all. Grover proved to be a most excellent travel companion. And it was wonderful that we could share several days of our vacation with grandparents and friends. Looking forward to next time!
